April 24, 2020 How to Protect Cultural Relics and Cultural Heritage Based on LoRa IOT

IOT technology can advance preventative protection of cultural relics through managing data collection electronic sensors. From the perspective of cultural relics, the paper combines the data collection, cloud processing and data visualization with the protection of cultural relics to make the sensor node to be the key to the cultural relics protection IOT. We also put forward resolution based on LoRa to minimize its influence on cultural relics, fulfilling a life of usage over 10 years. The resolution can handle and restore data, and it can be deployed in public or private cloud, or inserted into complicated anticipation models.

Not all kinds of cultural relics can be collected in museum to get full protection. In some occasions, certain air proportion is needed to avoid the oxidization. Light sensitive artwork also needs special environment. Such demands can mostly be realized through controlling temperature and moisture. As the pre-step of the best replacement to decide the micro climate controlling system, it is necessary to record and monitor the environmental condition around artwork, historical architectures in particular, which is conducive to evaluating the risk of deterioration and assessing the sensitivity of any artworks restored in these places.

Reason for employing LoRa in cultural protection IOT

1.Distance

Distance monitoring can influence the state of cultural relices to optimize its restoration in the long run. IOT cultural relics protection involves the installment of small sensor node and gateway to transmit data to the cloud through lora. Such application of IOT fulfills distance online monitoring and constant monitoring, thus improving the security and preventative protection.

2.Unauthorized frequency band

Many cultural relics are discovered in unfrequented places where signal is not stable, inaccessible to data flow service provided by operators, such as LTE, GPRS, etc. However, LoRa uses unauthorized frequency band without operators as an intermedia.

3.Low power consumption

Taking Wenheng LoRa module as an example, its electric current is as low as 4μA, which can be ignored. There is few fixed power supply at the location of cultural relics, and it takes a high labor cost to change battery. Therefore, LoRa is more suitable for cultural relics protection as far as power supply concern.

In conclusion, LoRa-based IOT is very suitable for cultural relics protection in the light of the difficulties it is confronted with.
