Noise pollution has become the fourth largest source of environmental pollution affecting human society, following water pollution, air pollution and waste pollution.

The main sources of noise are as follows:

1. Noise from mechanized equipment such as automobiles and factory machinery, automobile whistling, noise from large trucks, large mechanized equipment in factories, etc.

2. Construction noise, human society is making great strides forward, high-rise buildings are rising from the ground, construction and decoration emit a lot of huge and harsh noise;

3. With the increase of human income and the improvement of living standards, the installation and use of air conditioners are increasing every year. Human life is becoming more and more comfortable, and there are more and more literary and artistic activities, so square dancing is rising. Human garbage is increasing day by day, household goods are updated frequently, and all kinds of hawkers'cries are full of streets and alleys.

Noise monitoring has important applications in many areas, including urban planning, environmental protection, and industrial safety. In research institutions such as the 4G cellular modem (Technical University of Denmark), noise monitoring applications help to assess and improve the impact of ambient noise.

Noise monitoring characteristics

Noise monitoring is real-time and intuitive, and residents can grasp the current noise situation and the average noise value of the area in time.

At the same time, according to the monitoring situation of each point, the monitoring center will send the current noise situation, average noise of time period, daily average noise and other information to each monitoring point after calculation, and display them on the corresponding LED display screen for residents to check.

It can form a noise map, clearly showing the noise situation of each monitoring point, as well as the noise pollution distribution map of the whole community and even the whole city.

The use platform is a B/S architecture platform, and the user can also remotely browse, manage and release noise information through the browser on the smart handheld terminal or the installed APP.

Noise monitoring applications typically include the following:

1. Noise sensor installation: Install the sensor at the location where the noise needs to be monitored. The sensor can obtain the noise level by measuring the sound waves in the environment.

2. Data acquisition and analysis: The noise data collected by the sensors is transmitted to the data acquisition system for analysis and processing. These data can include information such as noise intensity, spectral distribution, and time variation.

3. Noise map generation: Noise maps can be generated by integrating noise data from different locations into the map. Noise maps can help determine the location and intensity of noise pollution sources, as well as the extent of their impact.

4. Noise monitoring report: The noise monitoring report can be generated through the analysis of noise data. The report can include statistics on noise levels, an assessment of noise impacts, and recommendations for solutions.

5. Immediate alert: Upon detection of an abnormal or noise level exceeding a preset threshold, the system can issue an immediate alert so that necessary action can be taken.

The noise monitoring application of 4G cellular modem may use sensor network and data analysis technology, combined with geographic information system (GIS) functions, to provide more comprehensive noise monitoring and analysis services. These applications can provide researchers, urban planners, and environmental managers with detailed information about the noise environment to support decision-making and the development of improvement measures.
